All the promises of an improving youth and multiple No. 1 overall draft picks mixed with Hall-of-Fame veteran leadership is fading fast for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wednesday’s five-point loss to the New York Knicks marked their seventh loss in eight games and stretched their last 10-game record to 2-8.
The Timberwolves are competing and are not just rolling over, which is both encouraging and discouraging. Since December began with a three-point loss at home to the Orlando Magic, the Timberwolves have had only one loss in their eight games played where the margin of defeat was double digits (12/15 vs. Nuggets 112-100). Four of the eight games were decides by less than five points.
There are eight games remaining in December for the Timberwolves, who hope to be on the winning side of some of these close games they seem to routinely find themselves in.
