When the Timberwolves obtained Juwan Howard in a trade from Houston in June, the 6-foot-9, 253-pound forward was excited about the opportunity to play with all-star Kevin Garnett. But when Garnett was subsequently dealt to Boston, Howard politely requested that the Wolves move him.
That, apparently, won’t happen before the Wolves open practice next week. Wolves owner Glen Taylor expects Howard to report to Minnesota.
"I hope so," Taylor said. "Nothing has happened on that."
–Whomever the Timberwolves choose as their new radio play-by-play announcer will be required to also call Lynx games.
-Timberwolves ticket manager Bryant Pfeiffer is leaving for a position with Major League Soccer.
"Yeah, this feels a little strange,” Green said. “But that’s why
it’s a business, man. You’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do. It was a
thing where I felt bad at first when I heard about the trade, but
that’s the business.”
As a result, Green has embarked on a rather odd trip into his past
with Minnesota. He’s had several conversations with former and now
current teammate Ricky Davis, and figures to break bread with Mark
Blount at some point as well.
The Timberwolves now have a distinctive feel of the Celtics, circa 2005, but so be it.
“I know I’m going to a great organization,” Green said.
