Wolves rookie Corey Brewer’s little hometown radio station wanted to
carry the team’s games this season, but the NBA denied the request
because of league broadcast regulations. WQKR-AM is a one-room station
overlooking Main Street in Portland, Tenn., and its signal carries
about 30 miles into the countryside. The station, home to the Portland
Panthers High School games, carried Brewer’s games when he played for
the Florida Gators.

The Star Tribune names Greg Buckner their "Star Of The Week":
It says something about the current state of the youthful Wolves that
the week’s MVP is a 31-year-old veteran who was little more than an
afterthought when he was acquired the night before training camp
opened. The team’s most reliable reserve in the opening two games, he
became a starter and played 39 minutes in a small lineup when Theo
Ratliff fell ill Tuesday and will stay there as long as Rashad McCants’
ankle stays sprained.

"Well, they’re young guys, you know?" Orlando’s Carlos Arroyo told HOOPSWORLD in Minneapolis earlier this week. "Telfair has a few years under his belt in Portland and Boston, but he’s played the position since he was a kid. I know he has a little more understanding of how to run a team and stuff like that. Foye, I mean, he’s played different positions. A lot of guys who are undersized at the two, they get them to play the one and it’s something that can be taught, but sometimes it’s difficult. The transition is very difficult."

The little toe on his left foot still was swollen and purple and
throbbing late Friday evening at the Staples Center, but at least
Gerald Green’s spirits were better after he played nearly the final 10
minutes of a 107-93 loss to the Lakers. Until Friday, bothered by that
infected toe and an inconsistent game for weeks, he had played just 45
seconds in the Wolves’ first three games. He scored five points on
2-for-4 shooting, had one rebound, one assist, one steal, two fouls and
two turnovers.
