Telfair was hit with news Monday that his maternal grandmother had died, Wittman said. Telfair was at practice when he got the call and left to be with his family. "He was pretty tore up about it," Wittman said.
Telfair’s status for Wednesday’s game is uncertain, pending funeral arrangements. If he isn’t available, shooting guard Greg Buckner likely would back up Jaric.
Ratliff’s knee injury lingered Monday without any determination on when he might return. Neither he nor Telfair practiced during a long, intense workout after disappointing home losses to Washington on Friday and New Orleans on Saturday. Ratliff will visit renowned sports physician Dr. James Andrews, who previously performed surgery on Ratliff’s knee, in Birmingham, Ala., for more evaluation.
