Crunchtime prowess is probably the most compelling argument for
starting Foye at point guard ahead of Sebastian Telfair, even when
Telfair returns and is healthy enough to play. As eye-opening as Bassy
has been in terms of floor generalship and pacemaking, we have seen,
more than once, what happens when opponents practically dare Telfair to
shoot when the game is on the line. Meanwhile, opponents would not be
remiss in doubling Foye, or at the least preparing for his
hell-bent-for-leather traipse down the right lane.

The Wolves now have won six of the last eight games when starting
forward Ryan Gomes scores 15 or more points. They were 6-for-7 until
Tuesday, a stat Randy Wittman attributes to his team is moving the ball
well, to its third and fourth scoring options.

Mike Trudell/Timberwolves site talks to assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff about "the plan with Corey Brewer":
The best players often have the most
consistent routine, which translates onto the basketball court. So with
Corey, we’re trying to find, one, his strengths, and then two, his
weaknesses, and figure out how he can be most effective and most
helpful for this team. So we’re working with him on his mid-range jump
shot, on his ball handling. Obviously, his defense and effort are
things that he does on his own, but those other things are what we
focus on both so that he improves individually and so that it helps
this team improve when he’s on the floor.

The word from Bloomington, Ind., is that Randy Wittman will get strong
consideration for the Hoosiers coaching vacancy if he decides he is
interested in leaving the NBA for the college ranks instead.

I was listening the other day to a self-serving radio personality at my
former employer talking about how nobody cares about the NBA. That the
ratings and attendance are down locally at Minnesota Timberwolves
games. That may be the case locally because the Timberwolves are
suffering through another bad season, but that’s only because of the
input of a couple of local boys — Glen Taylor and Kevin McHale — who
have created a complete mess with this franchise.

-It would seem hard to be pleased with a team that
has lost 49 of 63 games this season, but Timberwolves coach Randy
Wittman has managed to keep things in perspective. He said it helps
that the Wolves can expect a top-five draft pick to join them next
season.
