Hoiberg was among the Timberwolves’ contingent that
conducted a free basketball clinic Tuesday at the Mankato YMCA, part of
the annual U.S. Bank/Minnesota Timberwolves Summer Caravan. Hoiberg,
assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff, players Corey Brewer and Ryan Gomes
and broadcaster Jim Peterson presented a 75-minute clinic to about 80
youngsters, many dressed in some form of Timberwolves’ gear, followed
by an autograph session.

Hoiberg said he hopes the fans remain patient with
the rebuilding process, noting that by trading away first-round draft
pick O.J. Mayo in a package that brought back rookie Kevin Love and
shooter Mike Miller the Wolves have made moves to bolster the lineup.

The team asked Gomes after last season if he would participate in the
summer caravan and he agreed, as long as he wasn’t a member of another
team by then.

"I’m a community guy, so I said yes," Gomes said by telephone from
Mankato. "I don’t know where I’m going to be yet. I made a commitment
and stuck with it."

Gomes’ agent continues to seek an offer — likely as much as the $5.6
million midlevel exception — from another team that the Wolves would
be hard-pressed to match. The Wolves have the right to match any offer
he receives within seven days.

From KAAL TV:
It’s
a chance of a lifetime for these kids at the Mankato YMCA, being able
to see their idols up close and personal, and getting tips to help
improve their game.

"To come in here, and
be in their presence, shake their hands, give them high fives, and put
smiles on their faces, that’s what we came here for," says
Timberwolves’ forward Ryan Gomes.
