Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune on the top 10 questions facing the team this season:
3 Is Al Jefferson an All-Star?
You bet, provided the knee injury expected to sideline him for the
opening week or two of camp doesn’t linger. He played like an All-Star
last season, but the Wolves’ embarrassing record through mid-January
kept him from serious consideration. That shouldn’t be an issue this
season. His stats (21.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg) might slide slightly this season
because he won’t be needed to do everything for his team, but his
influence won’t. Make no mistake: This is Big Al’s team. Trading away
the rights of O.J. Mayo for complements Love and Miller showed so. Two
predictions here: Foye, if he remains healthy, will play his way into
consideration for the league’s Most Improved Player award and Love’s
multiskilled game will win him consideration for Rookie of the Year,
even with Greg Oden, Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley and O.J. Mayo in the
mix.

Bob Sansevere/Pioneer Press with a Q&A with Kevin Love:
I used to get up on stage (with the Beach Boys) when I was real young.
They would put the microphone in my face. I knew the words, but I had
stage fright. I think I’m OK now. I don’t have stage fright any more.

Am I better now than my dad was in his prime?
I think so. He was drafted ninth. I was drafted fifth. He was a
two-time All-American at Oregon as a junior and senior. I was an
All-American as a freshman.

When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be
either an NBA player or major league pitcher. I found basketball to be
more up-tempo and more exciting. Plus, there are no rainouts in
basketball, and there’s no playing in the snow.

Update:
The Wolves open a weeklong training camp at Bresnan
Arena on Tuesday, with two practices each day through Friday and a
Friday night practice at Bethany Lutheran. On Saturday night, the team
will hold a scrimmage. In 2006, Taylor played a significant role in
bringing his team to Minnesota State, in the same town as his corporate
headquarters, just a short drive up the hill from his home…

There will be higher expectations, from Kevin McHale
to coach Randy Wittman and his staff to the players. Taylor said the
pressure to win last season was minimal, but he expects to be more
competitive this season.

“We have to take another step,” he said. “It’s not
automatic that the young guys are going to play. The coach will decide
who plays, and if guys aren’t performing, they won’t get the minutes.”
