Glen Taylor is taking a long time to pick a Timberwolves general manager. He has been quoted many times that the new GM will pick the coach.

While that might be true, I believe the new GM will be encouraged by Taylor to give strong consideration to retaining Kevin McHale.

McHale and Taylor have had a great relationship. Taylor has a lot of respect for McHale and his basketball knowledge. Taylor previously had said the choice to keep coaching was McHale’s before backing off on that statement.
It’s my opinion that if McHale wants the job and Taylor will pay him a salary similar to what Flip Saunders is receiving from Washington — $18 million over four years — that McHale will remain the coach of the Wolves.

Los Angeles Sparks star Candace Parker has given birth to a baby girl.
It is the first child for the WNBA’s reigning MVP and rookie of the year and husband Shelden Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Goodwin Sports Management announced the baby girl was born in Los Angeles on Wednesday. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.

“Shelden and I are thrilled,” Parker said in a release. “This is such a life changing moment for us, we feel blessed to have a healthy and beautiful baby girl.”

Cardinal played the second-most games in his career and extended his range on the perimeter by shooting 32.6 percent from the 3-point line this past season. He improved in the final 19 contests, hitting 42 percent of his deep range attempts. Next year, the Wolves hope Cardinal can provide leadership in the locker room for a young team in his final year under contract with the franchise.
