Game previews:
Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn will chat with Wolves fans during Wednesday night’s game against Oklahoma City. Watch the game on FOX Sports North — Qwest Wolves Live begins at 6:30 p.m. — and join David for a chat during the second and third quarters.
Kevin Love didn’t practice today and was listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game against Oklahoma City.
The Wolves are calling his illness an upper respiration infection, the same thing center Ryan Hollins’ illness initiallI’y was termed.
That kept Hollins out six games before he returned to play six-plus minutes in Monday’s overtime victory over Philadelphia.
The swelling above guard Jonny Flynn’s left eye had gone down considerably Tuesday.
Flynn’s eye was nearly closed shut after he fell hard to the floor in the second quarter of Monday’s overtime win over Philadelphia. Flynn fell while making a pass to Damien Wilkins.
“My eye and head don’t hurt as much as it did yesterday,” Flynn said. “My vision is much better today.”
Flynn said he had trouble seeing the 24-second clock on his potential game-winning drive to the basket at the end of regulation. He missed the shot but ended up with career highs in points (29) and assists (nine).
* Former Timberwolf Rodney Carney played 10 minutes, all of them in the first half. David Kahn said before the game that he was interested in re-signing Carney, but said he and Rambis leaned more toward signing Sasha Pavlovic because they considered his all-around game better.
The Timberwolves’ Brian Cardinal tells a story that, early in his career, he blocked a shot by Shawn Kemp, then with the Portland Trail Blazers. On the trip down court, Kemp’s woofing was so fierce that Cardinal began to blush. And just as “words lead to action” on the playground, trash-talk could sometimes escalate into violence.
