If you were worried about Kevin Love’s future with the Wolves, you can rest easy. 
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, one-time All-Star Love can look forward to a contract extension offer of six years in the $70 million range once a new NBA labor deal is reached. The NBA’s collective bargaining agreement expires June 30.
As we know, Love, 22, can become a restricted free agent after the 2012-2013 season.
Thankfully, team brass isn’t going to hold Love – or us fans – in suspense. He’s a favorite, and obviously the team believes he’s part of the solution, not just another expendable trade piece.
Love, who is being paid $4.61 million this season and is signed for $6.1 million next season, leads the NBA in rebounding (15.5 average) and double-doubles (56, five more than LAC’s Blake Griffin), and ranks 18th in scoring with a 20.9-point average.
Love has stated his willingness – and preference – to stay in Minnesota, but has put the onus on the front office to get something done. Looks like the youngster is about to get his wish.
