(My sincerest apologies for the late updates. I had a little too much fun at the Wolves draft party last night.)
The Timberwolves went to great lengths to check out O.J. Mayo, and once they got their hands on him, they didn’t let him go.
As expected, the Wolves used the third selection of
Thursday’s NBA draft on the Southern California guard, and that’s the
way it stayed.

Resisting the urge to trade him for UCLA power
forward/center Kevin Love or another big man, the Wolves instead
celebrated the arrival of a big-time, 6-foot-5 shooter they said wowed
them on and off the court at Saturday’s five-team workout in Chicago.

The Mayo selection was a hit with Wolves fans at the draft party and with Mayo, who stepped onto the stage at draft headquarters at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York wearing a cap with the team’s new logo.
“I’m just happy to be part of the organization,” Mayo told ESPN, “and I’m ready to roll.”
It is O.J. Mayo and just in case you wondering if there will be some
proceeding theatrics, when cornered in a Target Center elevator by
reporters and asked if this means the Wolves are keeping Mayo for
themselves, assistant general manager Fred Hoiberg said, “This means
we’re keeping him.”
