A comment Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune left on his blog:
Just my opinion: I think everybody’s opinion of McHale has clouded
their judgment of this deal. It’s basically Kevin Love and Mike Miller
for O.J. Mayo. Remember neither of the two rookies has done a thing
yet. It all comes down to this: If Love can play, it’s a great deal. If
he can’t, it’s a bust. He doesn’t need to be a superstar and match
Mayo’s numbers. If he makes Al Jefferson a better All Star and if the
team wins, those will be the determining factors. Anyone who thinks
he’s a big lumbering oaf just because he’s white might be mistaken.
People who have watched him closely say he’s a uniquely talented player
for a man his size and unique players usually do pretty well in the NBA.
