Expect D League guard Blake Ahearn, from the Wolves’ Vegas
summer-league team, to be on the training-camp roster and they’ll
probably sign another big man to have another body for camp now that
Jefferson and Jason Collins will be out for awhile.

And just FYI: Love headed on Wednesday shot an ESPN commercial with
Stuart Scott, Mark Jackson and Dwyane Wade that will sell the network’s
NBA coverage. Love’s role: The Rookie.

Jefferson, Randy Foye, Mike Miller and the team’s personnel staff,
including coach Randy Wittman, traveled to Chicago last week to work
out free agent Shaun Livingston, the former Los Angeles Clippers guard,
who is attempting a comeback after missing all last season because of a
major knee injury.

Livingston tore three of his four knee ligaments in February 2007. A
6-7 point guard drafted directly from high school, Livingston never has
played more than 61 games in his three NBA seasons because of injuries.
The Wolves appear interested in signing him to become a third option
behind Foye and Sebastian Telfair. He also can play some shooting guard
and small forward, but might not be healthy enough to play until
mid-season.

Kare 11
posts a video interview with Kevin Love talking about the event below as well as the upcoming season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves today officially tipped off the team’s 20th
season of NBA basketball in the Twin Cities. For their historic 20th
Season, the Wolves have introduced a 20th Season logo, a commemorative
uniform patch and monthly 20th Season Tribute Games for 2008-09. The
Wolves also announced that Pepsi would be the Timberwolves’ 20th Season
presenting sponsor.

The tipoff to the 20th season took place during a ceremonial "first
tip" today at Target Center. Randy Breuer, Timberwolves center from the
inaugural 1989-90 season, took part in the jump ball with Wolves rookie
forward Kevin Love. More than 100 of the Timberwolves’ 500 20-year
season ticket holders were in attendance to witness the event.

Bethlehem Shoals/The Sporting Blog includes Al Jefferson on a list of players who "after putting themselves firmly on the map last season, probably will lose ground or tread ugly, stagnant water" this season.
Jefferson admirably handled tons of defensive attention and never got
too greedy, and even began to intimidate more consistently at the other
end of the floor. The thing is, you’ve always got to wonder about a
player who thrives—however admirably—in such a crappy situation. Having added the vastly underrated Mike Miller and McHale clone Kevin Love this offseason, the Wolves will now have a deep threat who takes a lot of shots and
some help for Jefferson underneath. Whether his stats take a slight dip
is not the issue, but rather whether he takes advantage of these new
digs and consolidates his strengths, or struggles to find a new groove.

The grand-opening bash for the trendy W Hotel in downtown Minneapolis’ Foshay Tower was as big a glitter-and-glam black tie affair as the Twin Cities gets…

Also spotted were Randy Foye of the Minnesota Timberwolves and WCCO’s Jeanette Trompeter.

From Kare 11:
Nearly three months ago, Sam Maresh learned he had a problem with his heart…

He’s already impressed Timberwolves
assistant general manager, Fred Hoiberg, who had a similar surgery as
an NBA player. The two have struck up a friendship through their shared
ordeal, and now, with Sam’s success.
