Timberwolves coach Randy Wittman said he had no knowledge Sunday of a report that guard Sebastian Telfair would be suspended by the NBA for at least the first two games of the regular season.
Telfair said the New York Daily News report was news to him.
“I didn’t read the article or anything,” he said. “I’m just here working with my team. I’m not looking in the past.”
Citing unidentified sources, the Daily News reported that Telfair would be suspended “for a minimum of two” games after being sentenced last month to three years’ probation for misdemeanor possession of a loaded handgun, speeding and driving without a license in Westchester, N.Y., in April 2007.
Wittman said the Wolves have received no notification from the NBA that a suspension is coming for Telfair, who was with the Boston Celtics at the time.
