How is this for a name as a candidate for the Minnesota Timberwolves coaching job — former Piston Bill Laimbeer; he’s interested in it.

So too is former Timberwolves player Sam Mitchell who could be considered for the job with the right general manager.
Another name to watch, if one of his guy’s ends up as GM, is Avery Johnson.
Don’t think Kevin McHale is out of the picture completely either.
Jared- Minneapolis: What is taking Glen Taylor so long to announce who the new GM is going to be?
Marc Stein: Because this is how Glen Taylor run the Wolves. Undecisively. If that’s a word. San Antonio’s Dennis Lindsey and Indiana’s David Kahn are the only external candidates I am sure have received interviews, but it was also suggested to me over the weekend to consider the possibility that the Wolves might have an off-the-board surprise coming.
In the RandBall Twitter challenge, Gophers head football coach Tim Brewster is now 30 followers ahead of nine-year Purdue standout t Brian Cardinal, now with the Timberwolves. The RB challenge started with Cardinal at 774 followers and Brewster at 771. They are now locked in a mortal struggle to reach 1,500 first, and Brewster is forging ahead the fastest with a 955-925 lead. The contest has drawn interest from both parties — neither of whom was present or even notified when it started. Brewster appears to have more horses in the race at this point, as he has not only Tweeted about it (as Cardinal did) but has also made mention on his official blog. Remember, the winner gets a RandBall t-shirt. Loser gets two RandBall t-shirts! (Rimshot). OK, not really. But the winner does get a RandBall shirt. Just so we’re clear.
Normally it’s the action on the floor of the Target Center that screams for attention, but to see the latest project underway you’ll have to look up. Crews are replacing the building’s roof with an environmentally-friendly green roof…
In debating the project, the Minneapolis City Council considered the lifespan of the building. The Target Center was built in 1991, and has already exceeded the median lifespan of 33.3 years for an NBA facility, according to a 2008 staff report. The lease with the Minnesota Timberwolves expires in 2025, 16-years after the new roof will be complete. In order to make the roof pay for itself in the end, the city will have to find a way to keep the Target Center in operation beyond 20-years. That makes the project an expensive gamble, but one city leaders ultimately decided was worth taking.
Best 15th pick in the last 10 years? Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson, who averaged 23.1 points and 11 rebounds per game this season.

University of Minnesota men’s basketball coach Tubby Smith and former Gopher Jim Petersen teamed up to shoot a 9-under par 63 April 28 at Reynolds Plantation in the 2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge golf tournament. The Gopher duo finished fourth and was awarded $25,000 in scholarship winnings.
Auto Concepts has customized vehicles owned by Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, Vikings Coach Brad Childress, former Vikings safety Darren Sharper and ex-Gopher and New England Patriots running back Lawrence Maroney, Luffey said.

And Timberwolf Randy Foye, former Timberwolves Keven Garnett and Trenton Hassell and former Twins Torii Hunter and Johan Santana have also had customizing work done there, he added.
