New Wolves boss David Kahn and the team’s existing scouting staff return from the Chicago combine this weekend and get extra busy with draft preparations starting Monday, when the team hosts four days of pre-draft workouts that are expected to draw scouts from as many as 17 NBA teams.

A different group of players will work out morning and afternoon for at least the first three days.

Due in Monday morning: USC guard Daniel Hackett, Ohio State center B.J. Mullins, Utah center Like Nevill, Israeli forward Omri Casspi and North Carolina forward Danny Green.

Due in Monday afternoon: UConn guard A.J. Price, UCLA guard Darren Collison, Villanova forward Dante Cunningham, Texas A&M forward Chinemelu Elonu, Georgia Tech forward Gani Lawal and Gonzaga forward Austin Daye.

David Kahn, the Wolves’ new basketball of operations, and the team’s personnel staff spent the past three days in Chicago for a draft combine.

Kahn, who will have a second meeting next week with coach Kevin McHale to discuss McHale’s future with the organization, said he would return home to Portland, Ore., for the weekend.

Just a couple of 20- and 30-somethings from New Britain and Waterbury playing a pickup basketball game in New Britain High School’s Chick Shea Gym.

The near four-hour event Thursday night, which also included an “old-school” game and dunk contest, meant plenty – it helped raise money to send members of the New Britain boys basketball team to AAU and professional camps…

With old competitive juices flowing and bragging rights at stake, New Britain’s Bobby Moore and Shon Jones fueled a furious second-half comeback in the N.B. All-Stars vs. Waterbury Legends game. New Britain trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half, but the combined 3-point barrage of Moore and the high-flying acrobatics of Jones put New Britain back on top with about three minutes to go.

That apparently didn’t sit too well with Waterbury’s Ryan Gomes, a 6-foot-7 forward with the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gomes answered with a running jumper, a pair of free throws, a 3-pointer and a block all in succession to put Waterbury up for good.
