Wolves president David Kahn said Wednesday in a text message he’ll be traveling to Europe “next week” to visit first-round pick Ricky Rubio and potentially help extricate him from his contract, which has a $6.6 million buyout, with his Spanish team DKV Joventut.

Rubio, drafted fifth overall by the Timberwolves in June, is still under contract with Joventut for the next two seasons. He led Spain to a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.
