Summer League record: 1-3
The New Orleans Hornets went on a 12-3 run over the final 2 1/2 minutes of the game, coming back to defeat the Timberwolves 100-96 in Las Vegas Summer League play on Saturday.

Jonny Flynn had 24 points on 7-for-10 shooting for the Wolves (1-3), while fellow first-round pick Wayne Ellington added 17 points. Corey Brewer scored six points on 3-for-11 shooting.

Jonny Flynn is making his case for Summer League MVP. We tend to forget that college offenses don’t run much pick-and-roll. With the help of Garrett Siler, his own personal Erick Dampier, Flynn is getting the kind of open space that makes him lethal. Today’s Flynn line: 24 points (7-for-10 from the floor, 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, 4-for-4 from the stripe, 4 assists). He’s the single most electric guard here in Vegas.
The first half featured an ol’ fashioned duel between Jonny Flynn and Darren Collison. Flynn carried the momentum he created from Friday’s 21-point performance with a game-high 24 points in the loss to New Orleans. The 6th overall pick proved his worth as a deadly jump shooter by nailing 7-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the 3-point arc. Flynn also reached the free throw line six times in a relentless attack that was seen on Friday.
Jonny Flynn had been one of the distribution stars at the Summer League, but Minnesota sputtered when Flynn was forced to produce some points.

New Orleans defeated the Timberwolves, 100-96, as former Creighton forward Anthony Tolliver scored a team-best 20 points.

Flynn led everyone with 24 points, but he had only four assists and turned it over six times. Flynn had entered the game second in the Summer League with 8.7 assists a game.
One of the most popular performers in Las Vegas right now is Niagara Falls’ own Jonny Flynn.

“Life isn’t as fun when Jonny Flynn is not in the game,” noted Kevin Arnovitz, an editor of ESPN.com’s True Hoop blog, in a Twitter update Saturday from the NBA Summer League.
