Guard/forward Sasha Pavlovic has reportedly agreed to a contract with the Timberwolves, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports, which cited “league officials” as its source.

The 6-foot-8 Pavlovic played for Cleveland last season and was part of the trade that sent Shaquille O’Neal from the Suns to the Cavaliers and brought Ben Wallace to Phoenix..

Kahn said he’s likely to become active again when the trade deadline approaches. And next summer he’ll definitely resume wheeling and dealing. For now, he wants to give the current players time to jell. They aren’t going to have forever, though. He already has put Ryan Gomes and Corey Brewer on notice that they need to have good seasons.

All this shifting around should result in several benefits. For example, program sales are expected to soar. You can’t tell the players without a program. Although in this case you may not be able to tell them even with a program. Several of these fellows are pretty obscure.

Most important, all of these transactions should create interest. I know that I’m curious to see how all of this turns out. And if it doesn’t turn out very well, rest assured Kahn has all the other general managers on speed dial and would have no qualms about bringing in another boatload of people to give it a try.

2. Al Jefferson (23.1 ppg, 11 rpg, 1.7 bpg): It’s looking like this may be the season Jefferson doesn’t get the snub. How many players can put up 20 and 10 then throw in a couple of blocks on top of that? With the frontcourt of Jefferson and K-Love a year more seasoned, the Timberwolves should be better than they were last season. Plus, with Yao Ming out with injury and Shaq now on the East coast, Jefferson may be the best center in the West.
