Injured center Theo Ratliff’s mysterious knee injury, which has
sidelined him since mid November, hasn’t improved enough through a
rehabilitation he started two weeks ago so he will have exploratory
arthroscopic surgery in Birmingham, Ala., by orthopedic surgeon Dr.
James Andrews on Tuesday.  A timetable for his return and recovery will
be set after the surgery…

Coach Randy Wittman said the surgery will be exploratory. He said Ratliff’s recovery time will be based on what the surgery reveals. It’s possible Ratliff might be able to play through the injury and not miss more significant time.

"They don’t know what it is, so they’re going to scope him and see," Wittman said.

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Thursday that center Theo Ratliff
