An eight-game losing streak has put the Minnesota Timberwolves at 12-25 overall, currently sitting five-and-a-half games out from the eighth and final Western Conference playoff position held by the Utah Jazz as the midway point of the season approaches.

The Timberwolves are in the midst of a five-game stretch where they face the premier competition in the NBA and although they have been playing well, have not been on the winning side of the equation.

On Friday, January 8th the Timberwolves were blown out by the Cleveland Cavaliers by 26 points but then had a stronger showing against the Dallas Mavericks two nights later, resulting in a six-point loss. Two nights later, the Timberwolves had another home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder but lost a close one by five points, followed by a three-point loss to the Houston Rockets on the road in a back-to-back.

The tough stretch of games continues, as the Timberwolves face the Thunder for the second time in four nights on a night with nine NBA games scheduled. On the secondary market, tickets to see the Thunder host the Timberwolves are in the top half of tonight’s games in terms of pricing with an average ticket price of $127.88 and a get-in price of $17 according to TotallyTickets.com. There are only three games more expensive than the Thunder and Timberwolves game tonight and five are less expensive.

The average ticket price has taken a significant dip in the days leading up to the game. On January 11th the average ticket price was $220.22 and has dropped for three consecutive days to show the aforementioned-recorded price.

In their meeting on January 12th, the Thunder shot out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back before the Timberwolves made a late fourth quarter run to close the margin of victory to five. Kevin Durant finished with 30 points while Russell Westbrook came close to a triple-double scoring 22 points, dishing out 11 assists and grabbing seven rebounds.

Zach LaVine had a strong performance, scoring 21 points with nine rebounds and four assists.
