Foye and Pinckney are part of a group headlined by current Turkish
players Mehmet Okur and Hedo Turkoglu that will hold camp at
Darüssafaka Tesisleri, Ayhan Sahenk Spor Salonu in Istanbul from June
4-7. Basketball without Borders Europe was last held in Istanbul in
2002, though the city was part of NBA Europe Live 2007, which featured
the Timberwolves playing an exhibition game against local pro team Efes
Pilsen Istanbul. Also joining Foye and Pinckney in Turkey are current
NBA players Bruce Bowen, David Lee and Mickael Pietrus, along with
former Timberwolves coach Dwane Casey.

 
 
 

Every major franchise or team in the Star Tribune’s coverage area —
just like most franchises or teams in most newspapers’ coverage areas —
has multiple blogs devoted to it, featuring the work of both passionate
fans and inflamed critics. To use one example, at any random
Timberwolves games this past season, there were no fewer than three or
four writers from alternative media sources, representing online
outlets such as Hoopsworld.com, SLAMonline.com and the thinking fan’s
site of choice, Britt Robson’s "On the Ball”  from rakemag.com. Me? I was there a lot, too, representing both MinnPost.com and SI.com, where I’m a regular contributor.  

 
 
 
Carlisle is
expected to bring his own crew of assistant coaches, though Paul
Westphal, Joe Prunty, Mario Elie and Popeye Jones all have one more
year on their contracts. Former NBA head coaches Dwane Casey and Terry
Stotts have been mentioned as possible targets for Carlisle’s staff.
