So it turns out the 15,000 number might be a tad high. The Timberwolves have confirmed President Chris Wright has received 1,300 e-mails about ESPN.com’s Bill Simmons and his candidacy for the Wolves’ GM job.

We heard the 15,000 e-mail number from another source, who maintains that 15,000 is correct and that Wolves officials have used that number in conversations with other NBA officials. (This message board thread used to say 12,000 … now it says 1,200).

RandBall talks to MSNBC’s Darren Rovell about the economic impact of a new Wolves GM:
In layman’s (our terms): Rovell was skeptical of the folks on the original Q&A who said they would rush out and buy season tickets if Simmons was hired. So while it might be fascinating and entertaining, apparently it might not be that valuable.

Of course, Berri’s wins-produced stat doesn’t directly incorporate team wins, a more conventional measure that favors Rose and is prioritized by many voters. The Bulls won eight more games with their new point guard than they did last year, while Love’s Timberwolves improved their record by only two wins.

On the court, Madsen did not garner much playing time but always received a thunderous reaction from the home crowd. The Wolves will rely on Madsen to instruct the young talent on the roster and the acquired rookies in the upcoming draft this summer.
Jim Kleinpeter/The Times-Picayune on LSU basketball player Marcus Thornton.
Elfus said the consensus is that Thornton could go anywhere from the 18th to the 30th pick. Dallas, Chicago, Washington, Milwaukee and Minnesota, which has three first-round picks, have inquired.
