NBA Season Betting Preview

While the Cavaliers are the NBA Pick to win the NBA title 5 of the top 6 teams with the best bonuses and odds are from the Western Conference.

The Cavaliers (+250) lost to the Warriors (+350) in the NBA finals last season and one of the main reasons was Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were injured. If they are healthy they may THE team to beat this season. However, the Warriors, led by MVP Stephen Curry and Klay Thomson, as the resigned Draymond Green, may have something to say about that.

The Spurs (+350) actually have better betting odds than the Warriors to win the title and the main reason is that they won the LeMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes. He, along with the Big 3 of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan may be tough to beat and while San Antonio is one of the oldest teams in the league they know how to win it all and they have some solid young players in Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

The Thunder (+800) and Clippers (+1000) have similar odds and each has question marks. OKC has legit odds with Kevin Durant coming back from injury and he and Russell Westbrook have to coexist and lead the Thunder. In L.A. Blake Griffin and Chris Paul have to be happy that De Andre Jordan stayed in Tinsel town and shunned the Mavericks after making a verbal deal with them. They have a weak bench and in the off-season they signed the veteran duo of Paul Pierce and Josh Smith.

The Rockets (+1800) advanced to the Western Conference finals last season and they did pick up scoring PG Ty Lawson in the off-season. If he and James Harden, who is a scoring machine, who handles the ball often, can mesh and Dwight Howard can stay healthy Houston has a legit chance at the title.

The Bulls (+2000) have the 2nd best odds of any team in the East and while they have a great squad their season may depend on if former MVP Derrick Rose can stay healthy and productive.

The Grizzlies (+3000) lost in the West semis last season and while they have Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol and a good backcourt they are thin on the bench and could use some more help in the frontcourt.

The Hawks (+3500) did not do much in the off-season besides the signing of Tiago Splitter and they kept the 4 All Stars from last season. Still, they are not a much different team that was swept by Cleveland in the Eastern Conference finals last season.

A few teams, that have question marks, but can still throw a wrench in to the NBA Picks for the season and NBA betting odds are the Heat (+4500), Pelicans (+4000), and, yes, even the Pacers (+6000). The Heat still have Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade, who have to play like in their primes, and Goran Dragic, so they have a solid nucleus.

The Pelicans have a young stud in C Anthony Davis and a solid young team, but to make some noise this season Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, and Ryan Anderson all have to stay healthy, which is a stretch, especially for the last 2 games, who played in 42 games combined last season.

Ok, so the Pacers did not make the playoffs last season, but they have Paul George back for the season, signed a scoring G, which they sorely needed, in Monta Ellis, and signed C Jordan Hill.

Here are all of the teams and their odds to win the NBA title as of October 23rd.
