Kahn, 47, is believed to have moved to the top of the Wolves’ list late last week when San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Dennis Lindsey withdrew from consideration.
Other confirmed candidates were former Miami Heat general manager Randy Pfund and Wolves general manager Jim Stack and assistant GM Fred Hoiberg.
Uncertain is what effect a Kahn hire might have on the future of coach Kevin McHale and the front office.
Unlike Lindsey, who reportedly wanted full control to make sweeping changes, Kahn is believed to be open to McHale returning, if that’s what he wants to do.
There also could be a place in a Kahn-led front office for Hoiberg, who has spent the past three years being groomed to succeed McHale as vice president of basketball operations.

From C.J./Star Tribune:
“Just got TMZ’d outside the nail salon,” Kevin Love posted on twitter.com. The Timberwolves forward had just stepped outside of a Los Angeles nail salon when the TMZ camera caught him.
I was drifting off to dreamland when this was on TMZ’s TV show Tuesday night, but I’m pretty sure that staffers had to tell Harvey (“I’m a lawyer”) Levin who Love was. Right back at ‘cha, Levin, as Love tweeted: “Fill me in on TMZ …?”
Responding to something written by somebody following him, Love wrote: “Haha told you I wasn’t lying about the pedicure … and like I said nothing wrong with a man taking care of himself.”
