Andrew Wiggins has posterized seven-footers before (see Rudy Gobert and Omer Asik) and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid is next on the list.
In an interview with Fox Sports, the Minnesota Timberwolves forward was asked who he wants to posterize and he said Embiid, his teammate at Kansas.
My boy JoJo Embiid from the Sixers. I never got him (as teammates) in college; time to get him now.
Embiid, who went two spots after Wiggins in the 2014 NBA draft, was sidelined by foot injuries for two full seasons but is finally getting on the court. For those of you who bet on NBA basketball, this budding rivalry is certainly one worth watching.
The Timberwolves play the 76ers twice during the 2016-17 season, at home on Nov. 17 and at Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 3. Assuming Embiid can stay healthy, Wiggins will get a chance to dunk on the 76ers center, who blocked two shots in the team’s preseason game against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.
